“The empires of the future are empires of the mind.” – Winston Churchill
Mark Zuckerberg encouraged a group of young entrepreneurs at Y Combinator’s Startup School in Palo Alto that it’s important to take risks.
“In a world that’s changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks,” he said.
Elon Musk is a perfect example of a innovative businessman who not only had amazing vision and boldness but put his money where his mouth was. After selling PayPal, he invested his fortune in two forward thinking startups, SpaceX and Tesla – barely surviving bankruptsy in the process. Recently, he started the Boring company, so he has a sense of humor too.

Yes, starting a new company or Start Up has Risk. Many new companies don’t make it. But with big risk is the chance for big rewards.
At Cymax Media we often find ourselves trying to helping start up companies with their unique business ideas some of which can lead to complex web development projects. We’ve learned from years of experience that understanding or “seeing” the “big picture” is critical in order for us to help our clients have the best shot at achieving their goals. With more challenging projects its critical to view and understand the project from multiple angles…from a marketing perspective, technical perspective, customer/user perspective, business perspective, etc. The value of having a clear “vision” early on in a project helps you discover challenges that need to be discussed and ways the project can be improved. Such discoveries can lead to improvements which can affect any (or even many) parts of the development, technical and/or user’s experience – any of which can help the project have a greater impact or better chance of success.
Often, a start-up company founder will have a rough diamond of an idea which needs to be polished and refined to see its true value come to fruition. A wise businessman should be open to suggestions and flexible to allow experts shape their idea into something which has more potential for success.
Vision Often Comes from Experience
Experienced professionals (such as an architect or web developer) can often see problems during the “blueprint” stage which are usually much easier to correct before any real construction begins. As the old saying goes “Measure Twice…Cut Once.” Bringing in a company that has years of experience is often well worth the price because of their ability to “see” the project clearly and render valuable advice up front.
“Vision is the art of seeing the invisible.” – Jonathan Swift
Because we’ve worked with hundreds of companies over the years we’ve seen a lot of “turkey” ideas come flying through our door. We much prefer to work with a company that has a clear vision and path to success than a losing proposition so we’ve actually turned down work from a number of startups whose ideas seemed like losers. Its a much better business model (and more fun) to work with a successful, growing and profitable company. We’ve been able to help start ups and existing companies grow and be successful over the years which in turn keeps our wheels turning. If you’ve got a great idea and vision for a brand new business and need help with branding, web development and more and vision to get it started – we invite you to contact Cymax Media and see how we can help.
